    410904 - SAT Prep

    This course is designed to give high school students the necessary skills to be prepared for the Fall SAT exam. It is intended for juniors and seniors who plan to take the SAT on Nov 4. The course is taught classroom style by two veteran and highly regarded classroom teachers, Scott Bielec & Rich Kelly. Rich is a long time math teacher at Pittsford Mendon High School. Rich has been chosen as the Mendon High School Teacher of the Year and has been recognized by RIT as an outstanding secondary teacher. The course provides a comprehensive overview of the SAT exam as well as teaching critical test taking strategies to help ensure success. This class provides an opportunity to become fully prepared for the exam and to learn more about the SAT format from professional educators.

    The VanHuysen Senior Center is located at 3750 Monroe Avenue, Suite 500.

    420907 - Defensive Driving

    Empire Safety Council, New York State and DMV approved, offers two great ways to save for New York State licensed drivers. First, complete this informative six hour workshop and receive a 10% reduction on the liability and collision premiums of your auto insurance for three years. Each member of a family completing the workshop is also entitled to the 10% reduction provided they are a primary operator on a vehicle listed on the policy. Secondly, you may be eligible to reduce up to four points on your driving record. An experienced certified instructor will lead the program using a wide array of teaching techniques appealing to motorists of all ages. The focus of the Traffic Survival Workshop is developing improved driving awareness, prevention skills and defensive driving strategies. Saturday courses will break for a ½ hour lunch. Please bring your own beverage.

    440924 - Historic Pittsford's Day

    Join us for Historic Pittsford’s Day of the Dead on Sunday, October 29th at 2:00p.m. as actors portray the lives of Pittsford’s earliest settlers. Hear the stories of pioneers Stephen and Sarah Hincher Lusk and how they arrived in this area. Meet Colonel Caleb Hopkins and learn why our town is named Pittsford, and discover the incredible lives of other people who resided in our community in its earliest days. The Pioneer Burying Ground is located south of the village at the intersection of South Main Street and Mendon Road. Busing will be available, please meet in the parking lot of the United Church at the corner of Sunset and Main. Please dress warmly.
