    310327 - Martial Arts For Youth

    Sections 01-03: Designed strictly for new students and current white belts. Our program of the martial arts is an "education-based" curriculum; where character building, leadership skills, goal setting and constant and never ending improvement all play vital roles. This means that in addition to learning traditional techniques of the martial arts, children are also taught the importance of respect, self-confidence, self-esteem and anger management. We strive to provide each student with a positive image on how they behave in the dojo (training hall), home, and school. The introduction program is designed to prepare each student for their yellow belt training, so that they can further their martial arts training in our year round colored belts program.     Sections 04-09: This advanced martial arts for kids program is a continuation of training after completion of Level I introduction to the martial arts for children program. Students signing up for this program must have already achieved their yellow belt in Goshin Jutsu. After building a basic foundation of the martial arts in the introduction program, students in the advanced program are seeking to further their training by learning different colored belt requirements within the curriculum. The main emphasis in this program is to focus on the concept of "constant and never ending improvement".     The Little Ninjas program has a detailed curriculum that focuses on improving pre-school and school-age children's basic motor and listening skills.     320304 - Debbie McVean Aerobics

    Take that first step towards achieving your cardiovascular and weight-bearing goals! Come join us for a challenging, yet easy-to-follow workout. Great fun! Great music! The 70-minute total body energizing class includes 40 minutes of high-low aerobics followed by 30 minutes of floorwork focused on toning the upper body, legs, hips, thighs, and abdominals. Bring your own two 2-4 lb handweights and exercise mats. Instructor holds a Physical Education degree and has 30 years of fitness instruction experience.     320314 - Barre to Barbell

    This barre-based class uses a combination of postures inspired by ballet and other disciplines like Yoga and Pilates. The barre is used as a prop to balance while doing exercises that focus on isometric strength training – holding your body still while you contract a specific set of muscles – combined with high rep/low weight fully body movements. During this class, we will up the ante by incorporating barbells to really bring the burn to your legs and glutes, as well as floor work for targeted core strengthening. This fun and dynamic workout will get your body toned and feeling great!

    In today’s modern world, our food shopping has vastly changed. We tend to rely more on quick fix meals. Many of us consume breakfast, lunch, and dinner from fast-food or packaged foods. Shoppers are being fooled by packaged product claims such as whole grain cereals and crackers, natural trail mix, organic whole grain sugar free cookies, organic low fat salad dressing, or salted almonds covered in dark chocolate. All these package claims make you snatch a product off the supermarket shelf and feel virtuous about doing so. Food manufacturers use every possible word they can to magnify the desirability of a product. This kind of language can lead you to believe you’ve picked something that will make you healthier—even though what’s inside that box can be processed food leading to diseases. This class will teach you which ingredients to be aware of while reading food labels, how to know the difference between wholesome and processed ingredients, identifying the differences between sugars in whole fruits, fruit juices, or fruit roll-ups and understanding the benefits of home-cooking.

Remember that health is the true wealth. Make vegetables the main base of your every meal! Have greens in your breakfast, lunch, dinner, morning snack, and evening snack. This is the way to maintain smooth arteries in our body. Three different kinds of best devine salads will be prepared in front of the participants. All participants will enjoy the salads in the class. Participants are welcome to write down the full recipe.

The class will include a short meditation and a dialogue on how mindfulness practices can be used to overcome life’s challenges. We will examine how these difficulties can become pathways to greater psychological freedom.

    320373 - Total Body Fitness

    Our Total Body Fitness classes are designed to give you a complete workout that will keep your heart rate elevated to a fat burning state throughout the entire session. Although each class lasts only 30 minutes, the intervals of ‘all-out’ intensity are the key in making your body respond, and therefore ultimately create your results. In your 30 minutes of interval training you will be working at maximal load on each station. You will be performing many different exercises that are fun, challenging and definitely not boring. The classes also combine different plyometric, body weight and resistance band training exercises. These sessions have been carefully designed to maximize results through the combination of both anaerobic (strength) and aerobic (conditioning) activities. These movements will keep your muscles in a state of perpetual confusion, in which they will constantly be forced to adapt and grow.

    340303 - Martial Arts For Women

    BEGINNER-ADVANCED: Learn martial arts in a class for women only. Have fun, gain confidence and get fit in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. Black belt instructors, committed to empowering women, teach a curriculum based on the art of Isshinryu Karate Do, including kata, kicks, hand techniques and weapons. This is an ongoing dojo (martial arts school) in which you, as others have, can progress to black belt. You can attend this class as an introduction to karate and self-defense. Students are grouped, or taught individually based on their instructional needs. Instruction is based on research about how women successfully defend themselves. No previous martial arts experience, or great fitness, is required to join. Beginners welcome at all classes.

    340350 - Pilates

    This program focuses on basic Pilates principles: core strengthening, increased flexibility and balance, breath control, proper joint movement, and correct spine alignment to improve posture. Participants will learn the basic series of exercises upon which the entire Pilates method is built. Every class is different to insure that the body is challenged in new ways. Classes are suitable to both beginners that haven’t exercised in years and people who exercise regularly by offering modifications to meet each student’s individual needs. Participants need to bring their own exercise or yoga mat.
