    AARP Long-Term Care Seminars are designed to educate members to fully understand the risk and consequences for Long Term Care. At a time when people are increasingly worried about providing care services for themselves, their spouse or other family members, this planning can ease the worries of a long-term disability. Participants will learn how to design an affordable plan to minimize the burden to their families, their own income and their retirement portfolio. Special programs such as the NY State Partnership for Long Term Care will be discussed. AARP membership is not required.

    This is a Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Workshop session to simplify your retirement planning process by providing the tools you need to build your own retirement plan. The process is simplified by breaking down your needs into three categories: (1) your Paycheck needs, (2) your Playcheck, and (3) a Protection Plan. We will show you how to detail the plan, and then show you how to guarantee your Paycheck is funded for the rest of your life. Then we work on your Playcheck and your Protection Plan. This method provides you the Peace of Mind that your Retirement Plan will last your lifespan, and is not subject to market valuations and interest fluctuations.

    321726 - DIY Life Care Premium Increase

    This course is designed for participants with older (10 years or more) Universal Cash Value Life Insurance policies and/or Long Term Care policies. Participants with existing Term Life policies will also benefit.

    Historically low interest rates have impacts on the continued viability of Life Insurance premiums creating higher premiums for older policies to prevent them from lapsing. Case studies are presented as examples as well as DIY procedure to follow to check the status of existing policies.

    Claims history has impacted Long Term Care policies with recent increases. Rate calculation methods are explained, current Cost of Care surveys are presented, and Claims demographics are discussed to help participants with a DIY method to make revised Plan Design decisions. Tax Savings ideas are also reviewed.

    Bonus discussion of a way to provide Tax Free income for participants with existing Term Insurance policies using the Cost Basis of those policies to shelter annuity income earnings.
