    This Jedi Training class mixes reality and fantasy, mindfulness and meditation, and seriousness and fun! Your little padawans will learn the skills necessary for a Jedi. They will learn to focus and clear their minds, to concentrate and “feel the Force”. They will practice self-regulation and emotional regulation skills. They will learn how to respond, not react. They will learn basic lightsaber skills, and gain mastery over their bodies. They will also construct their own lightsaber! This class teaches mindfulness skills and meditation, arts and crafts as we construct our “lightsabers” from everyday household objects, and self-discipline as we practice with our safe, soft, pool noodle "lightsabers".

    111312 - Snapology!

    Elementary Engineers (01): Come build super-cool cars, catapults, and parade floats that use gears, axles and pulleys. Work in teams under guided instruction to build a different model using LEGO® bricks each week. This class is designed for children of all ages and building abilities to build together. Classes include free-building time to promote creativity.

    Amusement Park Adventures (02): Design your own amusement park in this super fun program! Learn how to use LEGO® bricks and other building materials to make coasters and other awesome rides. Can you design the next Disney World?

    Kinderbots (03): Children will begin to explore the world of robotics as they build simple models that teach the fundamentals of robotic design. Whether learning about sensors while building drills and magic wands, or discovering ways that gears and pulleys create movement while building helicopters and robotic dogs, your child is sure to have a great time.

    Gamebots Robotics (04): Calling all gamers! Have a blast creating robotic games each week while learning about robotics. Participants will learn about gear ratio, sensors, programming, and pulleys as they create fun to play games. Whether creating pinball machine, duck hunt or a ring toss game, your child is sure to have fun building, learning, and playing.

    Brick Art (05): Edgar Degas, a famous artist, once said, 'Art is not what you see, but what you make others see'. As your child learns about different types of art and the periods they were created, students will be interpreting what they see and creating their own works of art using LEGO® bricks. Through Snapology’s interactive Art History class, children will learn about Da Vinci's Mona Lisa, Van Gogh's Starry Night, Wright's Falling Water, and many more!

    Scientists (06): Allow your child to cultivate their love of science and experience different domains of science & nature. Students will engage in concepts from astronomy, earth science, biology, chemistry and physics using LEGO® bricks and other interactive learning tools. We make science fun at Snapology!

    111401 - The After School Program

    Are you in need of a recreational after school program for your child to attend once the school day has ended? The After School Program provides a quality, fun and safe recreational environment for your child, ages 5-13. Participants will be placed into groups according to age and/or grade level. Activities include arts and crafts, free play, quiet time and playtime in our gym or outside on our playground. A daily snack is provided. The program is closed on school breaks and holidays, however it is open on school scheduled half days. Fun Camps and Fun Camp Days are available for children to attend on school breaks and holidays (registration and additional fees are required).     210430 - Irish Hurling Skills Class

    Learn to play the ancient sport of Hurling! Described and "the fastest game on grass," hurling has been played in Ireland for at least 4,000 years. It is now one of the fastest growing sports in America with new clubs sprouting up everywhere, including here in Rochester. Combining the skills learned playing lacrosse, field hockey, soccer, and baseball, hurling is a full body workout. Come learn the basic skills that it takes to begin playing the game. This four session class lays the foundation on which to build your skills in order to play the game of hurling. Program location will be communicated to registrants once determined.

    A hurley stick and helmet with a face mask will be required, so register early. Contact the instructor at ProgressiveEarlyLearning@gmail.com after you register to find out about getting a stick and other equipment.

    211312 - Snapology!

    Junior Engineers (01): Young students build fun and simple models using DUPLO® blocks. By playing with and manipulating the models, they experience pulleys, levers, gears, wheels and axles while exploring energy, buoyancy, and balance. Classes include free-building time to promote creativity.

    Junior Scientists (02): Allow your child to cultivate their love of animals. Children will learn various concepts of animal life cycles and animal characteristics & traits using K’Nex toys and other interactive learning tools. We make animal science fun at Snapology!

    Pokemania (03): Come join Snapology for Pokemania. Students will build and explore the world of Pokemon as they create their own gyms, battles, and even their very own generation of Pokemon. Children will also learn about real world science as they learn about the habitats of the Pokemon. Your child will have a blast becoming the best Pokemon trainer ever.

    Minecraft: Basic (04): Travel to the Nether with Snapology, but watch out for those creepers! Come join us as we bring Minecraft® to life using LEGO® bricks. Create your own world, including animals, creepers, and your very own Minecraft® character.

    Superheroes (05): To the Batcave, Snapology fans! Design your own superhero using LEGO® bricks, create your own adventure and comic strip. Have a blast as you create your own fantasy world of superheroes. What kind of super powers do you have?

    Minecraft: Advanced (06): Minecraft® lovers unite! Snapology’s Advanced Minecraft® is a technical class involving advanced Minecraft® building using LEGO® bricks and game-play experience. Students will learn the art of crafting and stirring up their own potions using LEGO® bricks. You came, you saw, you mined at Snapology’s Advanced Minecraft®!

    Space Wars (07): Robotics inspired by Star Wars® and space travel! Come on an adventure building and programming functional robots using LEGO® bricks in this super-fun program. Learn about space, space travel and, of course Star Wars®! Build different robots each day! Learning is enhanced through the use of laptops in this class!

    Real World Robotics (08): In Snapology's Real World Robotics class, students interested in technology will create robotic models inspired by real life robotic technologies. Students will learn about gear ratio, sensors, simple machines, and programming as they build alarm devices, earthquake detectors, robotic arms, and much more. Your child will have a blast exploring the world of robotic technologies as they build, learn, and play.

    Creative classes for kids to make custom accessories for their dolls. Any doll 18" or smaller is welcome. Please bring a sharp pair of scissors to class.

    211403 - Spring Break Camp

    Looking for something fun and exciting for your child to do over Spring Break? Join the Town of Pittsford Recreation Department for a week full of fun activities! On Wednesday (4/17), we will be taking a trip to The Warrior Factory! Pizza and a beverage will be included for lunch on this day. The bus will leave promptly at 9:30AM and return at 1:30PM. Please send your child with a non-perishable lunch and an afternoon snack. Please have your child dressed for outdoor weather. Register early as this program does fill quickly.     211405 - ARC Babysitter's Training

    This course is designed to provide youth (Ages 11-15) who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. This training will help participants to develop leadership skills; learn how to develop a babysitting business; keep themselves and others safe and help children behave; and learn about basic child care and basic first aid. Each student will receive an American Red Cross Babysitter’s Kit and a certificate stating they successfully completed the program. Students are required to provide an email address that certificates can be sent to. Please bring a brown bag lunch.

    211406 - Safety First for Children

    This program equips children ages 6-12 with the knowledge about home alone safety and accident prevention. Participants will learn how to answer the phone and front door safely, basic first aid, become aware of potential household hazards and much more. Participants will go home with a house rules sheet to complete with their family. Participants will role play stranger-danger scenarios to learn how to stay safe. The program will end with a 15 minute question and answer period to ensure each child leaves knowing what to do to stay safe!

    Is your young scientist or engineer ready to go beyond the textbook and begin to understand, apply and excel at the Science and Math concepts they are learning in school? Our 100% hands-on approach encourages kids to use Science and Math for real-world applications. Students build machines using different concepts such as: electricity, magnetism, hydraulics, wheels and axles, gears, push-and-pull forces, and many more. Students will complete a mix of projects during this class. Some will be built in the classroom using K’NEX, and others will be projects that they can take home and share with family and friends.

    Taught by EMT’s and Paramedics; this course teaches 8-14 year olds the skills and techniques necessary to respond to a variety of first aid related emergencies including: bleeding control, choking, burns, care for sprains and breaks and treatment for heat and cold emergencies. To help participants better understand common medical conditions that their friends may suffer from; we will also cover the following: food allergies, diabetes, seizures and asthma. This course helps meet requirements for many boy/girl scout badges.

    Food, fun and friends is a cooking school for kids ages 9-15 in Pittsford, NY. Boys and girls learn to develop their team building skills while "working" together to create delicious, healthy alternatives to store-bought, pre-packaged, and pre-made items. With just a few ingredients from the fridge/pantry, watch your child's self esteem take flight, as they are encouraged to roll up their sleeves, dig in and learn to create homemade, cost-effective meals and snacks.
