    210430 - Irish Hurling Skills Class

    Learn to play the ancient sport of Hurling! Described and "the fastest game on grass," hurling has been played in Ireland for at least 4,000 years. It is now one of the fastest growing sports in America with new clubs sprouting up everywhere, including here in Rochester. Combining the skills learned playing lacrosse, field hockey, soccer, and baseball, hurling is a full body workout. Come learn the basic skills that it takes to begin playing the game. This four session class lays the foundation on which to build your skills in order to play the game of hurling. Program location will be communicated to registrants once determined.

    A hurley stick and helmet with a face mask will be required, so register early. Contact the instructor at ProgressiveEarlyLearning@gmail.com after you register to find out about getting a stick and other equipment.

    211312 - Snapology!

    Junior Engineers (01): Young students build fun and simple models using DUPLO® blocks. By playing with and manipulating the models, they experience pulleys, levers, gears, wheels and axles while exploring energy, buoyancy, and balance. Classes include free-building time to promote creativity.

    Junior Scientists (02): Allow your child to cultivate their love of animals. Children will learn various concepts of animal life cycles and animal characteristics & traits using K’Nex toys and other interactive learning tools. We make animal science fun at Snapology!

    Pokemania (03): Come join Snapology for Pokemania. Students will build and explore the world of Pokemon as they create their own gyms, battles, and even their very own generation of Pokemon. Children will also learn about real world science as they learn about the habitats of the Pokemon. Your child will have a blast becoming the best Pokemon trainer ever.

    Minecraft: Basic (04): Travel to the Nether with Snapology, but watch out for those creepers! Come join us as we bring Minecraft® to life using LEGO® bricks. Create your own world, including animals, creepers, and your very own Minecraft® character.

    Superheroes (05): To the Batcave, Snapology fans! Design your own superhero using LEGO® bricks, create your own adventure and comic strip. Have a blast as you create your own fantasy world of superheroes. What kind of super powers do you have?

    Minecraft: Advanced (06): Minecraft® lovers unite! Snapology’s Advanced Minecraft® is a technical class involving advanced Minecraft® building using LEGO® bricks and game-play experience. Students will learn the art of crafting and stirring up their own potions using LEGO® bricks. You came, you saw, you mined at Snapology’s Advanced Minecraft®!

    Space Wars (07): Robotics inspired by Star Wars® and space travel! Come on an adventure building and programming functional robots using LEGO® bricks in this super-fun program. Learn about space, space travel and, of course Star Wars®! Build different robots each day! Learning is enhanced through the use of laptops in this class!

    Real World Robotics (08): In Snapology's Real World Robotics class, students interested in technology will create robotic models inspired by real life robotic technologies. Students will learn about gear ratio, sensors, simple machines, and programming as they build alarm devices, earthquake detectors, robotic arms, and much more. Your child will have a blast exploring the world of robotic technologies as they build, learn, and play.

    Creative classes for kids to make custom accessories for their dolls. Any doll 18" or smaller is welcome. Please bring a sharp pair of scissors to class.

    211401 - The After School Program

    Are you in need of a recreational after school program for your child to attend once the school day has ended? The After School Program provides a quality, fun and safe recreational environment for your child, ages 5-13. Participants will be placed into groups according to age and/or grade level. Activities include arts and crafts, free play, quiet time and playtime in our gym or outside on our playground. A daily snack is provided. The program is closed on school breaks and holidays, however it is open on school scheduled half days. Fun Camps and Fun Camp Days are available for children to attend on school breaks and holidays (registration and additional fees are required). Please contact Sydney at 248-6283 to discuss drop-in options or for more information regarding the program.

    211405 - ARC Babysitter's Training

    This course is designed to provide youth (Ages 11-15) who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. This training will help participants to develop leadership skills; learn how to develop a babysitting business; keep themselves and others safe and help children behave; and learn about basic child care and basic first aid. Each student will receive an American Red Cross Babysitter’s Kit and a certificate stating they successfully completed the program. Students are required to provide an email address that certificates can be sent to. Please bring a brown bag lunch.

    211406 - Safety First for Children

    This program equips children ages 8-12 with the knowledge about home alone safety and accident prevention. Participants will learn how to answer the phone and front door safely, basic first aid, become aware of potential household hazards and much more. Participants will go home with a house rules sheet to complete with their family. Participants will role play stranger-danger scenarios to learn how to stay safe. The program will end with a 15 minute question and answer period to ensure each child leaves knowing what to do to stay safe!

    211411 - How Cool is That? Club

    Is your young scientist or engineer ready to go beyond the textbook and begin to understand, apply and excel at the Science and Math concepts they are learning in school? Our 100% hands-on approach encourages kids to use Science and Math for real-world applications. Students build machines using different concepts such as: electricity, magnetism, hydraulics, wheels and axles, gears, push-and-pull forces, and many more. Students will complete a mix of projects during this class. Some will be built in the classroom using K’NEX, and others will be projects that they can take home and share with family and friends.

    In this class, kids get a taste of what it takes to prepare delicious homemade and healthy, from scratch meals and snacks.

    Food, fun and friends is a cooking school for kids ages 9-15 in Pittsford, NY. Boys and girls learn to develop their team building skills while "working" together to create delicious, healthy alternatives to store-bought, pre-packaged, and pre-made items. With just a few ingredients from the fridge/pantry, watch your child's self esteem take flight, as they are encouraged to roll up their sleeves, dig in and learn to create homemade, cost-effective meals and snacks. Kids can't wait to grow up. This is a way to allow them to be independent and resourceful, necessary ingredients for a healthy and delicious life!
